Peterborough Chamber Choir (NH) benefit concert, "War and Peace"
Saturday, May 31, Peterborough - Sunday, June 1, Concord, NH

Peterborough Choir War and Peace Concert The Peterborough Chamber Choir, under the direction of David Vernier, presented two benefit concerts entitled, "War and Peace". The hauntingly harmonic, precise offerings of the chamber choir were interspersed with readings of deeply emotional letters written by soldiers and others affected by various past wars. The subtitle of the concert read; "A choral meditation on the human cost of war and the hope for peace."

We are grateful for the Peterborough Chamber Choir's stirring performance and generous gift of proceeds offered by their audience's free-will donations. The chamber choir dedicated about $750 towards the NH Department of Peace and Nonviolence campaign. The bulk of this amount was 'paid forward' as an offering in the form of scholarship support to a needy attendee of the Summer Peacebuilding Institute with the remainder divided between state and national campaign support.

Peterborough Choir War and Peace Concert The Peterborough Chamber Choir was organized in January, 1991 by director David Vernier primarily to perform 19th and 20th century works for small ensemble by American and European composers. Its widely varied repertoire now includes renaissance and early-baroque motets, folksong arrangements, English, French, and German partsongs, spirituals, and even a couple of jazz settings.

During the past several years the choir has continued its annual "Christmas in story and song" concerts a seasonal favorite with regional audiences and has focused its efforts on presenting more frequent performances throughout the area, donating the proceeds from its concerts to benefit local community and charitable organizations.
